Ann McKenzie Dickie was born about 1828 in Scotland – she married Captain David Dickie on 30 March 1851 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland.
They had two sons before they emigrated to New Zealand about 1860.
The family settled in Dunedin and a further five children were born after their arrival.
David died in 1873 after a long illness at their home, Tay Cottage, in Elm Row Dunedin.
Ann was still living in Elm Row when she signed the suffrage petition and she died at her home on 12 November 1917.
She is buried with David in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
