Ann Prior was born about 1847 in Berkshire, England.
She emigrated to New Zealand where she married Benjamin Dixon in 1870 in Greymouth.
They had four children and owned a stationery shop in Greymouth where Ann signed the suffrage petition.
Benjamin died in 1908 and Ann remained in Greymouth where she died at her home on 5 January 1931 – she is buried with Benjamin in the family grave in the Karoro Cemetery.
