Dora Jones was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the eldest daughter of George Jones and Dorothy Tweedy. (See 43 Dorothy Jones)
When Dora signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Nen St, Oamaru.
In 1898 Dora sang at a concert for the Governor General held in the Theatre Royal in Oamaru and, in 1904, she went on an overseas trip with her parents. They travelled through Ceylon, Egypt and the European Continent before arriving in London.
In 1962 Dora attended the 75th anniversary of the Waitaki Girls’ High School. She was 'a pupil in the school’s second year' and was 'the oldest present'.
Dora died on 6 February 1966 – she is buried in the family grave in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
