Elizabeth Dewar was born about 1864, probably in New Zealand, the daughter of William Bennetto and Jane Francis.
She married David Dewar, a printer, in 1885 and they had five daughters.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Gore.
David died at their home in 1938 and Elizabeth died on 3 June 1957 – they are buried together in the Gore Cemetery.
