Biography contributed by Bernadette Siebert.

Emily Eliza Jordan was born in New Zealand in 1871, the second daughter and third child of James Byrt Jordan and Mary Jane Hudson.

See 378 Mary J Jordan

Emily never married. When her mother Mary Jane died in 1925, she was left £400 . She must have used it wisely because when Emily died at 89 years old on 31 July 1961, her estate was worth £2,000.

Her will named nephews, although she had nieces too. Most of the estate was to be sold and divided equally between Reginald Francis, Frederick Coles, James Byrt, Lewis Edmund, Owen Edward, Esmond Richard, all sons of her brother James Byrt Jordan.

Her furniture and £100 went to Reginald Francis, her books and £100 to Frederick Coles, and only £10 pounds to Alan Keith Tracey, son of her sister Kate.

She was buried in Purewa Cemetery along with her parents.
