Emily Frances Deacon was born in 1859 in Christchurch – the daughter of Rogers Deacon and Louisa Bond.
She married Francis Clifford Latter on 5 October 1887 at St Barnabas’ Church in Fendalton and when she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Gore where Francis worked as an accountant at the Colonial Bank.
He later trained for the ministry and they lived in Dunedin, Dargaville and Devonport before retiring to Christchurch where Francis died in 1944 and Emily died on 7 April 1947.
They are buried together in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery.
