Elizabeth Etherington Rhind was born on July 31st 1841 in Banffshire, Scotland – the daughter of John Rhind, a mason, & Elizabeth Sangster.
She married Alexander Gair, a widower with one daughter & a railway platelayer, on June 9th 1863 in Banffshire.
They came to New Zealand in the early 1880’s & settled in Dunedin – when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Athol Place.
She died at her home on May 26th 1904 & Alexander died in 1913, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
