Elspeth Jane Polson was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of Angus Polson, a farm manager, and Elspet Murray. (See 296 E M Polson)
When Elspeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Enfield in North Otago.
She married John Tinline Harkness, an accountant, in 1908.
Elspeth died in Christchurch on 28 January 1910 – she is buried with her parents in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
