Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Elizabeth Agnes Keating was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Edward Keating, a gold miner then stoker at the gas works, and Bridget O’Brien.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Sydney St, South Dunedin.
She married William Trench Carroll, an artilleryman, in 1900 and they had four children, one who died in infancy.
William died in 1945 and Elizabeth died at her home on 19 October 1946 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
