Edith Agnes Lakeman was born in 1871 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of Alfred Lakeman and Agnes Ann Henderson Lake. (See 72 Agnes Lakeman)
She sailed for Otago with her family in 1873 and they settled in Dunedin.
They moved to Gore in the 1880’s where Edith attended the Gore Public School.
She was a registered nurse and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Gore.
Edith died on 8 July 1947 in Gore – she is buried in the family grave in the Gore Cemetery.
