Eliza Margaret Clarke was born about 1840 in England.
She married William Pickup in 1873 in Nottingham, and they emigrated to New Zealand soon after.
They had three children, and when Eliza signed the suffrage petition they were living in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.
William died in 1910 and Eliza died on August 30th 1925. They are buried together in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
