Elizabeth Thomasine Adams was born on 9 August 1844 in Launceston, Tasmania – the daughter of George Edward Adams and Ann Thomasine Warren.
She came to New Zealand and married Thomas Balfour Mason on 30 October 1868 in Dunedin.
They had four children and lived in 'Inverness Cottage' in Filleul St, Dunedin where Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition.
For many years they let several rooms of their house for 'gentleman boarders'.
Thomas died in the Dunedin Hospital in 1896 and Elizabeth died on 2 September 1923, they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
