Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Annie was born about 1840 and was married to George Mullis. In 1881 they were living in Queenstown where George ran the Harp of Erin livery stables.

In 1886 they were living in Invercargill where George was declared bankrupt.

They were back in Queenstown by 1891 and George was working as a mariner.

Elizabeth signed both the 1892 and 1893 suffrage petitions.

In 1894 Elizabeth was 'violently and indecently assaulted' while ill in bed. She suffered from 'fits of illness ever since her courses had stopped' and appears to have been unconscious when the assault occurred. A man was charged with the offence but was not convicted due to lack of evidence.

George died in 1900 and is buried in the Queenstown Cemetery.

What happened to Elizabeth after this is unknown.
