Eliza Caroline Riddle was born in 1852 in Queensland, Australia – the daughter of John Riddle & Elizabeth.
Her daughter Lillian was born in 1877 and they sailed for New Zealand around 1885.
They lived in Dunedin where Lillian died in 1889.
When Eliza signed the suffrage petition she was living in North East Valley, Dunedin working as a machinist.
She died on 2 November 1912 and is buried with Lillian in the Northern Cemetery.
