Elizabeth Sarah Reid was born in Victoria, Australia and immigrated to New Zealand as a child with her family. She married Andrew Clark in 1876 and they had four children. Andrew Clark died in August 1880 as the result of a work accident at Thames River bush.
Elizabeth married Thomas Edward Powdrell in 1883 and they had six children.
She also signed page 408 of the 1892 suffrage petition.
The 1896 and 1900 Ohinemuri electoral rolls record Elizabeth as living in Turua, and domestic duties as her occupation.
Thomas Powdrell died in December 1931 and Elizabeth in December 1943. They are both buried at Shortland Cemetery, Thames.
