Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Townsend Robbins was born in 1850 in Dorset, England - the daughter of Charles Robbins, a porter, and Charlotte Townsend.

She spent her childhood in St Helliers, Jersey and her sisters Mary and Charlotte also signed the suffrage petition. (See 65 M M Farrant and 140 Mrs E Dowland)

Elizabeth married William Jonathan Frost, a storekeeper, on 31 December 1875 in Dunedin and they had seven children.

William was declared bankrupt in 1881 and several years later the family moved to Invercargill where William worked as a gardener.

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Tay St, Invercargill and she was working as a saleswoman.

William died in 1915 and Elizabeth died in November 1925, they are buried together in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
