Elizabeth Wood was born about 1839 in Scotland.

She came to New Zealand where she married Henry Walden, a merchant and widower with five children in 1880.

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Andersons Bay, Dunedin.

Elizabeth died on 30 December 1900 at Kaitangata and Henry died in 1918 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
