Elizabeth Wedderspoon was born on 17 June 1865 in Perthshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Wedderspoon, a carpenter, and Margaret Cairns.
Elizabeth emigrated to Otago with her family in 1883 on the Nelson.
The family lived in Maitland St, Dunedin. Elizabeth married Alexander Riach, a butcher, on 1 January 1897, and they had four children together.
The family lived in Christchurch and the West Coast before coming back to Dunedin.
Elizabeth died at Drivers Rd, Dunedin on 23 December 1945 and Alexander died in 1954. They were both cremated and their ashes scattered.
