Edith Sarah Packer Ashwin was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of Martin Richard Ashwin and Emma Priscilla Copson. When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her aunts Marion and Helen (See 177 Helen Ashwin and 177 Marion Ashwin) in Armagh St, Christchurch.
She married Frederick Hubert de Burg Labatt, an accountant, in 1902 and they had one daughter.
Frederick died in 1947 and Edith died on 10 August 1958, they are buried together in the Bromley Cemetery.
