Edith Edwards was born in 1868 in South Australia – the daughter of Richard Henry Edwards, a miner, and Elizabeth Davey. (See 159 Elizabeth Edwards)
In 1877 the family travelled to Otago on the Tararua and settled at Blue Spur on the Otago Goldfields.
In 1885 they moved to Dunedin and, when Edith signed the suffrage petition, she was living with her family in Maori Hill.
She married Phillip Marks, a widower with two children, in 1897. They lived in Waihi before moving to Grey Lynn in Auckland where Phillip worked as a confectioner.
Phillip died in 1946, he is buried in the Waikumete Cemetery.
Edith died on 10 October 1953, she is buried in the Waikaraka Cemetery, Auckland.
