Elizabeth Garlick married Joshua Hartley in 1865 and they had nine children. 

Elizabeth Hartley also signed page 408 of the 1892 suffrage petition.

In 1893 Elizabeth’s two youngest children Walter and Cora were attending Turua School and Joshua Hartley was a member of the Turua school committee.

Elizabeth’s daughter Minnie Hartley also signed sheet 390.

The 1896 Ohinemuri electoral roll records Elizabeth Hartley as living in Turua and domestic duties as her occupation.

Elizabeth Hartley died on 7 September 1911 at her Kopu residence aged 68 and is buried at Shortland Cemetery, Thames.
