Eliza Donkin was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand in 1857 – the daughter of Christopher Benson Donkin and Catherine Southall.
When she signed the suffrage petition Eliza was living in Leith St, Dunedin working as a housekeeper.
She did not marry and she died on 26 March 1932. She is buried in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
