Eliza Eleanor Jones was born in London in 1871 – the daughter of George Washington Jones and Eliza Bailes.

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Buckinghamshire and they settled in Dunedin.

Eliza married John George Hall, a tram driver, in 1888 and when Eliza signed the suffrage petition they were living in Main Rd, North East Valley.

They had 15 children, two who died in infancy.

John died at their home in 1929 – he is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.

Eliza died on 8 December 1959, probably in Timaru. She is buried in the Timaru Cemetery.
