Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Eliza Proctor was born about 1843 in Ireland – the daughter of John Proctor.
She married John Harrison, a farmer, on 3 November 1858 in Abbeylix, Queens County and they had six children.
In 1884 the family, with five of their children, emigrated to Otago on the Ruapehu. They appear to have had another child either on the ship or shortly after their arrival.
The family settled in Dunedin and when John died in 1892 they were living in Phillip St, Hillside.
When Eliza signed the suffrage petition her daughters Alice and Jemima also signed. (See 64 Alice Harrison and 64 Jemima Harrison)
Eliza died on 17 January 1926, she is buried with John in the Southern Cemetery.
