Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Eliza Hucklebridge was born in 1851 in Bath, Somerset, England – the daughter of William Hucklebridge, a tailor, and Mary Ann Milligan.
She emigrated to Queensland in 1873 on the Great Queensland accompanied by her sister where she married John Kilpatrick, a labourer, on 9 October 1875.
Not long after their marriage they sailed for Otago and settled in Dunedin where they had eight children.
When Eliza signed the suffrage petition they were living in Union Street.
They later moved to North East Valley where John died in 1908 and Eliza died on 24 February 1912 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
