Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Anderson was born about 1843 in Scotland.

She emigrated to New Zealand and married David Smart Anderson on 27 July 1864 in Dunedin.

They had 11 children and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they owned a dairy farm at Sandymount on the Otago Peninsula.

David died at their home in 1901 and, in 1905, 'Mrs Arnott’s Dairy Farm, One of the Best in the District' was auctioned.

Elizabeth retired to Portobello where she died on 15 February 1926.

She is buried with David in the Portobello Cemetery.
