Elizabeth Tomina Jack was born on 9 December 1871 in Edinburgh – the daughter of Alexander Jack, a cabinet maker, and Maria Bain. (See 113 Maria Jack)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Mairi Bhan and they settled in Dunedin.
Elizabeth married Alexander Dobbie, a railway clerk, in 1892 and they had two children.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition, they were living in Sawyers Bay, near Dunedin.
They later lived in Woodhaugh, Dunedin where their 10-year-old son died in 1908.
Alexander died in 1920, and Elizabeth died on 17 March 1961 – they are buried with their son in the Northern Cemetery.
