Elizabeth McIntyre was born about 1841 in Perthshire, Scotland – the daughter of Duncan McIntyre.
She emigrated to New Zealand and she married Emanuel Francis on 22 February 1872 in Dunedin.
They had four children and lived, at first, at Hakataramea before they moved to Duntroon where they engaged in farming.
Emanuel died at their home in 1910 after which Elizabeth went to live with her daughter in Oamaru.
She died there on 6 March 1928, she is buried with Emanuel in the Duntroon Cemetery.
