Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth Catherine Repper King was born in 1862 in Redruth, Cornwall, England – daughter of Charles Henry King, a contractor, and Sarah Hendy Perry. She came to New Zealand with her family in about 1867 and they settled in Dunedin.

In 1881 she married George David Gibbs, a carpenter. They had seven children together.

Elizabeth died on 11 September 1894, when her youngest child was only three years old. She is buried in the Northern Cemetery. George re-married and he died in 1943.
