Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Elizabeth Grainger was born in 1852 in Tynemouth, Northumberland, England – the daughter of Thomas Grainger, a coal miner, & Ann Laverick.
Elizabeth emigrated to Otago, probably with her sister Mary (See 65 Mary Grainger), in the early 1880s.
She did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her sister Mary in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin where they both worked as dressmakers.
Elizabeth died at her home on 13 September 1906, she is buried with Mary in the Southern Cemetery.
