Elizabeth Hore was born Elizabeth Ann Kestell to Edward Kestell and Grace Brewer in 1856 at Tremoderet, Cornwall and was baptised on 25 December 1856 at Roche, Cornwall, England.
At the time of the 1871 census Elizabeth was living at home with her parents and siblings in Roche, Cornwall, England.
On 10 February 1876 Elizabeth Kestell married David Hore, at Treverbyn, Cornwall, England. Elizabeth was aged 19 years and David aged 22 years. Both signed with their mark.
Elizabeth and David’s first son Charles was born in 1877 in Cornwall.
Elizabeth, David and their son arrived in Lyttelton on 1 February 1879 on the ship Northern Monarch.
Their second child, Louisa was born in April 1879, shortly after their arrival in New Zealand. They had a further five children.
David was the conductor of the Waimate Brass Band from circa 1882 until 1890.
In 1892 Elizabeth signed the Women’s Suffrage Petition Roll, Sheet 262.
In 1912 Elizabeth and David were living at Augustine Street, Waimate.
Elizabeth died on 4 June 1912 in Waimate and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery
David died on 30 August 1917 in Waimate and is also buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, Methodist section, Plot 000067.
