Elizabeth Browning was born in 1867 in Worcestershire, England – the daughter of James Browning, a brickmaker, and Ann Kings.
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family in 1873 on the Carnatic and they settled in Dunedin.
Elizabeth married, painter, Wilfred Jepson in Dunedin on February 5th 1884.
They had a son the following year and a daughter in Victoria in 1888.
Elizabeth and the children were back in Dunedin in 1889 when their daughter died due to falling into a tub of boiling water.
They were to have a further 2 children and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Smith Street, Caversham.
They later lived in Christchurch, Wellington and Levin where Elizabeth died on March 10th 1913 – she is buried in the Old Levin Cemetery.
Wilfred died in Wellington in 1927 – he is buried in the Karori Cemetery.
