Elizabeth Kirk Scott was born in 1862 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Scott and Mary.
She married Hugh Murray McLauchlan, a carpenter, on 27 December 1882 in Palmerston, North Otago.
They had 10 children, one who died in early childhood, and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Fox St, South Dunedin.
Elizabeth died on 14 October 1930 and Hugh died in 1935, they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
