Elizabeth Ann Mackey was born in 1878 in Northumberland, England – the daughter of John Mackey, an engineer, and Elizabeth Wilkinson. (See 66 Elizabeth Mackey sen)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family about 1880 and they settled in Dunedin.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.
She married John Francis Genesik, a labourer, on 29 April 1903 at All Saint’s Church and they had three children.
Elizabeth died at the Dunedin Hospital on 28 April 1909, aged 31, she is buried with her parents in the Southern Cemtetery.
John re-married in 1911 to Elizabeth’s sister Polly – they had three sons.
John died in 1940 and is buried with Polly in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
