Elizabeth Wilkinson was born about 1851 in Northumberland, England.
She married John Mackey, an engineer, in 1869 and they had six children, two who died in infancy, before they emigrated to New Zealand about 1880.
They had a further six children after their arrival and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cargill Rd, South Dunedin.
John died in 1910 and Elizabeth died on 15 May 1937, they are buried with two of their daughters in the Southern Cemetery.
