Biographical information provided by Briar Barry for the He Tohu exhibition:
Elizabeth’s last initially indicated that she was one of the few Māori women to sign the Petition; however further research shows this was not the case. Elizabeth Wallbank was born around 1870 and married a Prussian settler with the surname Mai. She died on 12 October 1928, aged 58.
