Elizabeth Muir was born on 6 February 1861 in Dalmellington, Ayrshire, Scotland - the daughter of Hugh Muir, a baker, and Janet Mitchell/Mitchellson. (See 153 Janet Muir)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1864 on the Andrew Jackson.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in George St, Dunedin.
Elizabeth married Thomas Lindsay, a farmer and widower with two children, on 11 June 1902, they had one child that was stillborn.
They lived at Wedderburn in Central Otago where Thomas died in 1924, he is buried in the Naseby Cemetery.
Elizabeth died at Orokonui Home, Waitati near Dunedin on 6 August 1934, she is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
