Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth/Charlotte Eliza Brenssell was born about 1868 in New Zealand, the daughter of Charles and Louisa Brenssell.

She married Frederick Edward Nevard in 1886 and they had four children. When she signed the suffrage petition, she was living in Clark St, Dunedin.

Frederick died in 1894 when their youngest child was one year old. He was crushed when a wagon ran off the road and rolled down a bank at Kyeburn. He was buried in the Naseby Cemetery.

In 1896 Eliza married Thomas Reid, a painter, and she had another 4 children.

She died on 9 November 1915 at the Dunedin Hospital, aged 47. She is buried in the West Taieri Cemetery.
