Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Elizabeth Munro was born about 1834 in Renfrewshire, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander Munro, a grocer, and Margaret Grieve.
Elizabeth married John Renfrew, a blacksmith, on 2 September 1862 in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
Shortly after their marriage Elizabeth and John, with two of Elizabeth’s sisters, emigrated to Otago. They appear to have had a daughter in about 1867 although she doesn’t appear in the birth records. At first they lived in George St, Dunedin before moving to Andersons Bay in the 1870’s.
Elizabeth died on 30 May 1905 at her home in Cargill Rd, Sth Dunedin and John died in 1906. They are both buried in the Southern Cemetery.
