Elizabeth Russell was born on July 2nd1871 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of Robert Russell, an iron dresser, & Agnes Marshall.
She emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Cartsburn with her family & they settled in Dunedin.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Albany Street. She married William George Alsopp Angell, a builder, in 1894.
They had 2 daughters, one who died in infancy, before they moved to Victoria, Australia in 1896.
Their remaining daughter died that year & a son was born the following year.
They returned to Dunedin in the early 1900’s & had a further 7 children, 3 who died in infancy.
In 1908 William was declared insolvent.
Elizabeth died on July 4th 1950 & William died in 1954, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
