Elizabeth McCutcheon Samson was born on 23 October 1872 in Glasgow, Scotland - the daughter of John Samson, a baker, and Elizabeth Brown. (See 66 Mrs E Samson)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family about 1874 and they settled in Dunedin.
Elizabeth did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Kensington, South Dunedin.
After the death of her parents Elizabeth helped in the family bakery business while her brother James was fighting in WWI.
In 1917 she appealed on behalf of an employee who did not want to enlist due to 'undue hardship', 'Miss Samson and her invalid sister were dependent on the business', conditional exemption was granted.
Elizabeth died on 19 January 1951, she was cremated and her ashes buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
