Ellen Corrie McKay nee Poulter was born circa 1857 in Saint Pancras, London, England and was baptised in the Old Church in Saint Pancras. By 1877 Ellen was living in New Zealand where she married James McKay. The couple had five children, Margaret Lilian born in 1879, Ellen Corrie born in 1883, Randolph born in 1885, James John Herbert born in 1890 and Annie born in 1896. When Ellen signed the Women’s Suffrage Petition she was living in Mount Eden. Ellen died on the 26th of April 1929 at the age of 72 at her home 45 Turama Road, Royal Oak, Auckland.
