Ellen Mayfield was born Ellen Day in July 1848, Eastry, Kent, England to William Day and his wife Annie Milgate.
In 1865 Ellen married Robert Henry Morton Mayfield in Eastry, Kent, England. Robert died in 1892 in Nottinghamshire.
Some time after Robert’s death Ellen migrated to New Zealand.
In the 1893 and 1896 electoral rolls Ellen Mayfield is recorded as living in Waimate, occupation Nurse.
In 1899 Ellen married John Davy Blackmore [Widower], a Sheep Farmer at Upper Makikihi. In 1898 John had retired from railway service after 21 years, 15 of these as Stationmaster at Makikihi. He had been unwell for some weeks. He then took up a small grazing run.
John Blackmore died on 24 July 1901 aged 60 years at Waimate and is buried in the Waimate Old cemetery, Methodist section, Plot 000407.
Following John’s death, she married again to James Nind in 1905. James died in 1915 aged 73 years, occupation Gardener.
Ellen [Helen] Nind died in Auckland on 22 November 1936 aged 86 years and is buried in Waikumete cemetery, Auckland, Wesley Division C, Row 29, Plot 77.
