Ellison was the eldest daughter and one of ten children of the Reverend Thomas Norrie and his wife Elizabeth. She was born in New Zealand in 1859. Her father was the Presbyterian minister in Papakura and its surrounds for fifty years from 1855 to 1905.

In about 1914 Ellison moved to the Bay of Plenty to live with her sister. She lived there until her death at the age of 68 in 1926.

I wish to correct a couple of pieces of information. I wrote a biography of Reverend Thomas Norrie 15 years ago.
Ellison was born on 23/10/1858 and baptised on 16/1/1859. There were 11 live births (8 boys, 3 girls). I wonder if the difference is Harold Montrose Norrie who only lived for 4 weeks from 8/5/1873 to 7/6/1873
