Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elzina was born about 1842 in Italy and was married to Thomas Incrocci, a cabinetmaker.

They emigrated to New Zealand on the Shakespeare with their two children, arriving in Wellington on 24 January 1876.

The ship reported 'fever on board. Though there is only one case at present there have been several. The ship has been placed in quarantine and she is reported to be in a very dirty state.' Elzina and Thomas had a daughter in 1878 while the family were living in Oamaru.

They were in Dunedin by the late 1880s living in Castle St where Elzina signed the suffrage petition.

She was, at the time, working as a tailoress while Thomas had a cabinetmaker’s business.

Thomas died at his home in 1911 and Elzira died on 11 May 1916 at her daughter’s home.

They are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
