Emily Jane Wyatt McGill was born in the Tokomairiro district in 1867 – the daughter of Peter McGill, a miller, and Ellen Gooch. (See 118 Ellen McGill)
She married George Brook, a miller, on 28 December 1891 at her parents’ home in Milton.
When Emily signed the suffrage petition they were living in Milton. They had five children and later lived in Dunedin then in Feilding.
Emily died in Feilding on 27 December 1952 and George died the following year, they were both cremated and their ashes interred together in the Aramoho Rose Garden, Whanganui Cemetery.
