Emily Cooper Duff was born in 1869 in New Zealand, the daughter of James Cooper Duff, a butcher, and Christina Stuart Reid.
Christina grew up in Waikouaiti, and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living there with her family working as a music teacher.
She died in Dunedin on July 1st 1919. She is buried with two of her siblings in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
