Emily Johnston was born about 1865.
She married Walter Edward Joyce, a painter and paperhanger in 1892 in New Zealand.
They had two children and when Emily signed the suffrage petition they were living in Gore.
Their son died in WW1 in 1916 and when the 1925 electoral roll was issued they were living in Wellington.
Emily died on 6 October 1953 and Walter died in 1960 – they were both cremated and their ashes are interred in the Karori Cemetery.
