Emily Price was born Emily Jane Mason, June Quarter 1860, Islington, Middlesex to Alfred Mason and Emily Jane Pouncy.
The Mason family migrated to New Zealand on the ship Chrysolite which arrived at Lyttelton on 24 November 1862.
Emily Mason married Alexander Price on 10 March 1882 at the residence of Mr Wells [Frederick Guy Wells], Castle Street, Dunedin.
Emily and Alexander had seven children.
In 1887 a Prohibition Order was granted against Alexander Price (Expressman) to be in force for 12 months in the Waimate, Makiki and Deep Creek Licensing Districts, also at Waihao Forks Hotel.
In March 1889 a Protection Order was granted to Emily Price against her husband and she was given custody of her three children. She was granted one pound a week against her husband.
When Emily Price signed the 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition she was living in Waimate, South Canterbury.
Alexander died on 25 December 1901, in a house fire. Alexander was living alone, separated from family some time ago. He is buried in the Waimate Old Cemetery, R4, Plot 000081.
In 1911 and 1925 Emily Price, Widow was living at 11 Augustine Street, Waimate. In 1938 Emily was living at 198 Adelaide Road, Wellington. By 1941 she had moved to 25 Palm Grove, Wellington.
Emily Price died on 19 June 1943, Wellington age 84 years and is buried in the Karori Cemetery Ch Eng 2/0/34
