Emily Blair was born about 1848.

She married Edward Spencer, a carter, in 1880 in New Zealand.

They had two children and when Emily signed the suffrage petition the family were living in North East Valley, Dunedin.

Emily died at her home on 31 October 1905 and Edward died at their daughter’s home in 1920 – they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
